Como e quando posso usar TO?

Verbos que usam to:

Give      Tell     Sell      Send       Lend      Write     Read     Show      Teach

           Podemos usar de duas formas esse tipo de frase:  com o objeto direto ou  objeto indireto  com os verbos give, write, read, show, teach, tell, sell, send, lend, bring, take ou pass.

                                                       What                to

                  give                            the object       to the person

                  He is going to give  a book         to Mary.

            B.  VERB +                           I.O             +   D.O

                  give                         the person                                                                                                                                        

                He is going to give      Mary             a book.

Notice the use of to with the verb explain.

He explained the lesson to me.

COMMENTS                                                              

    (1)  For indirect objects after the verb explain, only pattern A is possible.

    (2)  Other verbs which are like explain are:  announce, describe, introduce,    

mention, prove, repeat, say, speak, suggest, report.

These verbs use pattern A only.

•The teacher announced the examination to the students.

•We described our class to him.

•He introduced his father to us.

•He mentioned the money to Mr. Miller.

•He didn’t prove anything to us.

•We repeated our names to him.

•He always says “Hello”to me.

•He is speaking English to me.

•He didn’t suggest anything to us.

•The students reported their progress to the teacher.
