Folks, we all have heard many self made success stories, have you ever heard of a self made failure story, probably not? They always blame somebody else.

Gente, todos nós já ouvimos muitas histórias de sucesso próprio feito, você já ouviu falar de uma história de fracasso feito por si mesmo, provavelmente, não? Eles sempre culpam alguém.

You ask any failure, success is a matter of luck? They always tell you that. I´ve been asked, is success tough?

I say, "Of course it is, but you try failing if that is easy. I´ll tell you failing is a lot tougher than success".

Você pergunta qualquer fracassado, “o sucesso é uma questão de sorte?” Eles sempre vão te dizer que sim. Já me perguntaram, o sucesso é difícil? Eu digo: “Claro que é, mas tenta falhar se é fácil. Eu vou te dizer que falhar é muito mais difícil do que o sucesso”.

Going back many many years I was in Toronto. I heard a story of two brothers. One was a drug addict, drunk and used to beat up his family and his blood brother had a great business a wonderful family, highly respected all over. 

Voltando muitos anos atrás eu estava em Toronto. Eu ouvi uma história de dois irmãos. Um deles era um viciado em drogas, bêbado e costumava bater sua família e seu irmão de sangue tinha um grande negócio e uma família maravilhosa, e atualmente respeitado por todos.

Some people wanted to find out how two brothers of the same family could be so far apart? So they went to the drug addict and asked him, "How come you do all the wrong things, where do you get your motivation from?"

Algumas pessoas queriam saber como dois irmãos de uma mesma família poderiam ser tão distantes? Então, eles foram para o viciado em drogas e perguntou-lhe: "Como é que você faz todas as coisas erradas, de onde você tira sua motivação é?”.

He said, "My father." "So what about your father?" He said, "When I was a little boy", he said "my father was a drug addict, drunk and used to beat up my family, what I used to see that’s what I am. What do you expect me to be”?

“Ele disse: ”o meu pai." "Então, o que tem meu pai?"  Ele disse: "quando eu era um garotinho", ele disse, "o meu pai era um viciado em drogas , bêbado e costumava bater a minha família, o que eu costumava ver é o que eu sou. O que você espera que eu tivesse sido?"

So they went to his brother who was doing everything right, and asked him, “ Where do you get your motivation from?” and guess what he said, the same thing, “My father!” "So what about my father?"  He said, "When I was a little boy I used to see my dad do all the wrong things, I made up my mind I´ll never be like him”  They are both drawing strength from the same source. 

Então, eles foram para seu irmão que estava fazendo tudo certo, e lhe perguntou: " De onde você tira sua motivação?" E adivinha o que ele disse, a mesma coisa: "Meu pai !" "Então o que acontece com o meu pai? " Ele disse: " Quando eu era um garotinho eu costumava ver o meu pai fazer todas as coisas erradas , eu decidi na mente que eu nunca vou ser como ele" Ambos eles tomaram a força da mesma fonte.

One is using for the positive and the other is using for the negative. Many times we think we´re taking the easier way which ends up to be the tougher way.

Um deles esta usando para o positivo e o outro está usando para o negativo. Muitas vezes pensamos que estamos tomando o caminho mais fácil, que acaba por ser o caminho mais difícil.

One time, there was a lark sitting in the forest singing. And a man came by with a box full of worms, he was taking them to the market place to exchange them for a feather.

Uma vez, houve uma cotovia estava sentado no canto da floresta. E um homem veio com uma caixa cheia de vermes, ele estava levando-os para o mercado local para trocá-los por uma pena.

The Lark said, “Look, I have to hunt my own worms every day, I have lots of feathers, why 

don´t you give me the worms and I´ll pluck and give you the feather it will save me  hunting and save you going”? 

A cotovia disse: "Olha, eu tenho que caçar os meus próprios vermes todos os dias, eu tenho um monte de penas, por que você não me da os vermes e eu vou arrancar e dar-lhe a pena que vai me salvar caçar e poupar você indo”.

It seemed like a good trade, and the Lark got the worms and plucked the feather and gave it to the man. 

Parecia um bom negocio, e a cotovia recebeu os vermes e arrancou a pena e deu para o homem.

The same thing happened the next day. The third the same thing happened the fourth day till the day came that the Lark had no more feathers to give. It couldn´t hunt its own worms, it stopped singing very soon the Lark died.

A mesma coisa aconteceu no próximo dia. O terceiro a mesma coisa aconteceu no quarto dia até o dia chegou que a cotovia não tinha mais penas para dar. Não podia caçar seus próprios vermes, ela parou de cantar e muito em breve a cotovia morreu.

What is the moral of the story? Very simple! What the Lark thought, it was taking the simple way, ended up to be the tougher way. Folks, that’s the key, there are no shortcuts in life, and many times when we start taking shortcuts we start compromising our values.

Qual é a moral da história? Muito simples! O que a cotovia pensava que estava tomando o caminho simples, acabou por ser o caminho mais difícil. Gente, essa é a chave, não há atalhos na vida, e muitas vezes, quando começamos a tomar atalhos que iniciam a comprometer os nossos valores.

In success winners accept responsibility. Losers always blame someone else, they play the blame game.

No sucesso os vencedores aceitam a responsabilidade. Os perdedores sempre culpar alguém, eles jogam o jogo da culpa.

Do you know what the blame game is?  My parents did it, teacher did it, company did it economy did it, country did it. Somebody else did it, my star did it, horoscope did it, my faith did it. I never did it. They will never accept responsibility.

Você sabe o que é o jogo da culpa? Meus pais fizeram isso, o professor fez isso, a empresa fez a economia fez, o país fez isso. Alguém fez isso, minha estrela fez isso, o horóscopo fez isso, minha fé fez isso. Eu nunca fiz isso. Eles nunca vão aceitar a responsabilidade.

Folks, success is a matter of laws and it´s not a matter of luck. And the first law of success says: It´s called the law of cause and effect, which says in the binocular the law of sowing and reaping. Our mind is like a garden, if you plant good seeds, you´ll have a good garden. But if you don´t plant good seeds something will grow, and they will be weeds, because nature abounds a vacuum. Either we have a positive or we have a negative there is no neutral.

Gente, o sucesso é uma questão de leis e não é uma questão de sorte. E a primeira lei do sucesso diz: Chama-se a lei de causa e efeito, que diz no binocular a lei da semeadura e da colheita. Nossa mente é como um jardim, se você plantar boas sementes, você vai ter um bom jardim. Mas se você não plantar boas sementes algo vai crescer, e eles serão ervas daninhos, porque a natureza é um vácuo abundante. Ou temos um positivo ou um negativo não há o neutro.

When I wrote my book “You Can Win”, My two nephews they were twelve and fourteen and they were playing tennis like professionals. One day my cousin came over and said, “Shiv this game is getting very expensive, these kids are going through the rackets, the ball and the course and the long fees, the game is getting very expensive”.

Quando escrevi meu livro " Você pode ganhar " , meus dois sobrinhos  eram doze e quatorze anos e eles estavam jogando tênis como profissionais. Um dia meu primo veio e disse: "Shiv este jogo está ficando muito caro, essas crianças estão passando as raquetes , a bola e o campo e as longas taxas, o jogo está ficando muito caro.

I said, “Getting expensive as to what?  It´s relative.” But I said ,” If it is so expensive, why don´t you have them stop tennis, but tell me when they come home from school at one or three,  they have all the time at hand and all the energy in their body, if they will not play tennis, what will they do?”  There was a silence for thirty seconds, he said, “I think it´s cheaper this way, I´ll continue!” Why?

"Eu disse, “esta ficando caro para o que”? É relativo. "Mas eu disse:" Se é tão caro, por que não  parar eles de tênis, mas diga-me quando eles chegam da escola as uma ou três, eles têm todo o tempo e tudo a energia em seu corpo, se eles não vão jogar tênis, o que eles vão fazer?" Houve um silêncio por trinta segundos, ele disse:" Eu acho que é mais barato desta forma, eu vou continuar! "Por quê?

Folks, our mind is like a garden, if you don´t plant good seeds, weeds automatically come in. Either we have a positive or we have a negative, there is no neutral here. But you go ask a farmer, even if you do plant good seeds, weeds sill come, don´t they?

Gente, nossa mente é como um jardim, se você não plantar boas sementes, ervas daninhas vem automaticamente entrar. Ou temos um positivo ou um negativo, não há neutralidade aqui. Mas você vai perguntar a um agricultor, mesmo se você plantar boas sementes, ervas daninhas ainda vão vir, não é?

And there are two ways of getting rid of weeds. One is a lawnmower way. You mow the lawn you chop the head and you think they´re gone, but are they really?

E há duas maneiras de se livrar das ervas daninhas. Um deles é uma forma cortador de grama. Você cortar a grama, você corta a cabeça e você acha que eles se foram, mas eles realmente forram?

 But the second way is, you take a sharp object, get on your knees and pluck it out of the ground, it´s a tougher way but it´s a more permanent way. That is what we are talking about in terms of law sowing and reaping.

Mas a segunda maneira é, você pega um objeto pontiagudo, fique de joelhos e arranca-o da terra, é um caminho mais difícil, mas é mais permanente. Isso é o que estamos falando em termos da lei da semeadura e colheita.

Folks, the law of sowing and reaping says, One, “You must have the desire to sow!”

Gente, a lei da semeadura e da colheita diz, Uma, "Você deve ter o desejo de semear!

 Two, “Desire alone won´t do it, but you must sow too.”

 " Dois", O desejo por si só não vai fazê-lo, mas você deve semear também.

Three, “You sow tomatoes you´re not going to get potatoes.”

"Três", Você semeia tomates e você não vai colher batatas.

Four, “When you sow you don´t reap the fruit the same day, there´s a gestation period.

"Quatro, "Quando você semeia você não colher os frutos no mesmo dia, há um período de gestação.

But the kind of world we are living in today, everybody wants to reap it right the moment they sow, it doesn´t work that way, there has got to be a gestation waiting period in life.

Mas o tipo de mundo em que estamos vivendo hoje, todo mundo quer colher no momento  em que semeiam, não é assim que funciona, tem que ter um período de espera de gestação na vida.

 And five it says, “You must sow first, you can´t reap before you sow, but the kind of life we are living in today, people want to reap before they sow and it doesn´t work that way at all.

E cinco diz: “Você deve semear primeiro, você não pode colher antes de semear, mas os tipos de vida que nos estamos vivendo hoje, as pessoas querem colher antes de semear e não funciona desse jeito de maneira algum”.

You can´t go to the fireplace and say, “Give me heat and I will give you wood”. You´ve got to put wood in before you get the heat! You´ve got to sow first.

Você não pode ir até a lareira e dizer: “Dá-me o calor e eu vou dar-lhe a madeira”. “Você tem que colocar a madeira antes de receber o calor”! Você tem que semear primeiro.

And then six, “When you sow a seed you don´t reap a fruit. Your harvest is many fold! When you sow a positive seed your harvest is many fold in the positive, and when you sow a negative seed, your harvest is many fold in the negative too. 

E, em seguida, seis, "Quando você semear uma semente você não colhe uma fruta. Sua colheita é muitas vezes mais! Quando você semeia uma semente positiva a sua colheita é muitas vezes no positivo, e quando você semeia uma semente negativa, sua colheita é muitas vezes no negativo também”.

It comes down to very clear the law of sowing and reaping. With is what brings us to the last point which says, ”Either we are part of the solution or we are part of the problem. And if you´re not part of the solution then we are the problem.

Tudo se resume a um pensamento muito claro a lei da semeadura e da colheita. O que nos leva ao último ponto que diz: “Ou somos parte da solução ou somos parte do problema. E se você não é parte da solução, então nós somos o problema.”

And let me go back to the law of sowing and reaping which says, “How does it translate in our real life? It says, “You sow a thought and you reap an action.” “You sow an action and you reap a habit!”
“You sow a habit you reap a character!” “And you sow a character, you reap a destiny!”

E deixe-me voltar para a lei da semeadura e colheita, que diz: "Como você se traduz em nossa vida real”? Ela diz: "Você semeia um pensamento e você colherá uma ação." “Você semeia uma ação e você colherá um hábito”. “Você semeia um hábito que você colha um caráter”! “E você semeia um caráter, você colherá um destino”!

Start again: “You sow a thought and you reap an action.” An action does not come without a thought process. The thought process may be conscious or subconscious that’s different but positively there was a thought behind it.

Começamos de novo: "Você semeia um pensamento e você colherá uma ação". Uma ação não vem sem um processo de pensamento. O processo de pensamento pode ser consciente ou inconsciente que é diferente, mas de forma positiva, houve um pensamento por trás dele.

How many times do you hear people saying, “Success or money has gone into their head, look at that person they became arrogant. Reverse it; there are many people when they become successful or they become rich or wealthy, they become humble. Has success or money brought arrogance or humility? Absolutely not.  It has only brought to surface whatever was hiding before, that´s all.

Quantas vezes você ouve as pessoas dizendo: "O sucesso ou o dinheiro tem ido para sua cabeça, olha para aquela pessoa que se tornou arrogante”. Revertê-la; “há muitas pessoas quando elas se tornam bem sucedidos ou quando se tornem ricos, eles se tornam humildes”.

O sucesso ou dinheiro tem trazido arrogância ou humildade? Absolutamente não. Ele só tem trazido à tona o que estava escondido antes, somente isso.

Sow a thought to reap an action. Sow an action you reap a habit. Any action you do repeatedly it becomes a habit. 

Semeie um pensamento para colher uma ação. Semeie uma ação que você colhera um hábito. Qualquer ação que você faz repetidamente torna-se um hábito.

Folks, right from childhood all our parents had the same thing, form good habits and habits form characters, because 90% of our behavior is habitual we never think we just act.

Folks , desde a infância todos os nossos pais tinham a mesma coisa , formar bons hábitos e os hábitos formam caracteres , porque 90% do nosso comportamento é habitual nunca pensamos que acabamos de agir.

You´ve got good habits, you´ve got a positive character or you´ve got bad habits you’re a negative character because 90% of you is habitual and good habits are hard to come by, but they´re easy to live with.

Você tem bons hábitos, você tem um caráter positivo ou você tem maus hábitos você é um caráter negativo por que 90% de você é habitual e os bons hábitos são difíceis de encontrar, mas eles são fáceis de conviver.

Bad habits come easy but they´re hard to live with. And before you´ve got the habit, the habit has got you.

Maus hábitos vêm fáceis, mas eles são difíceis de conviver. E antes que você tem o hábito, o hábito tem você.

Have you this phrase that says, “Practice makes perfect”? Absolutely not true! Practice only makes permanent whatever you practice.

Você esta frase que diz: "A prática leva à perfeição" ? Absolutamente não é verdade! A prática só torna permanente naquilo que você pratica.

Only perfect practice makes perfect. Some people keep practicing their mistakes and they become perfect in making mistakes.

Só a prática perfeita leva à perfeição. Algumas pessoas mantêm a prática de seus erros e se tornam perfeitos em cometer erros.

Every time they do it they mess up because that is what they have practiced. 

Toda vez que eles fazem isso eles asneiram, porque isso é o que eles têm praticado.

Folks, you sow a habit, you reap a character. And you sow a character and you reap destiny.

Gente, você semeia um hábito, você colhe um caráter. E você semeie um caráter e você colhe destino.

The important thing is: Thoughts are causes, can you chose our thoughts, and if we can choose our thoughts we can control our destiny and that is really the bottom line. We can all chose our destiny by choosing our thoughts.  

O que é importante é: Os pensamentos são causas. Você pode escolher nossos pensamentos? E se podemos escolher nossos pensamentos nós podemos controlar nosso destino e isso é realmente (o ponto básico) a linha de fundo. Todos nós podemos escolher o nosso destino, escolhendo os nossos pensamentos.

I have asked this one question to many decision makers all over the world,
Eu pedi esta uma pergunta para muitos que tomam decisões em todo o mundo,

“If there was one thing you´d like to see changed that would make your organization more productive, what would it be?”
"Se teria uma coisa que você gostaria de ver alterado, que  farria a sua organização ser mais produtiva, o que seria? "

 And everybody came back with one word. And they said, “attitude”. 
 E todo mundo voltou com uma palavra. E eles disseram "atitude". 

 If our people had better attitude we would have a better team work, quality would go up, bottom line would go up! The most important word in the English language is the word attitude today.

Se nosso povo melhoria a atitude que teria um melhor trabalho em equipe, qualidade subiria, a linha mais baixa iria subir! A palavra mais importante no idioma Inglês hoje é a atitude.

There was a study conducted which said “85 % of the time any person gets a job or promotion, it´s because of the attitude. 15% how smart they are how many facts and figures they know. And almost a 100% of education dollars go to facts and figures, which counts for only 15% of success. What we are talking is the 85%, which brings us to the point, It is not our position but our disposition that determines our success.

Houve um estudo realizado , que disse que " 85% do tempo, qualquer pessoa consegue um emprego ou promoção , é por causa da atitude . 15% como eles são espertos quantos fatos e números que eles sabem. E quase a 100% dos dólares de educação ir a fatos e números , que conta apenas 15% de sucesso. O que estamos falando é o de 85% , o que nos leva ao ponto , não é a nossa posição , mas a nossa disposição que determina o nosso sucesso.

Now what is disposition? Disposition is nothing else but our attitude. What is the difference between skill and competence? Skill is an ability. Competence is ability along with the attitude and the desire to perform.

Agora, o que é disposição? Disposição é nada mais do que a nossa atitude . Qual é a diferença entre sucesso e competência? Sucesso é uma habilidade. Competência é capacidade juntamente com a atitude e o desejo de realizar.

There are many skillful people who are totally incompetent, because they don’t have the skill and they don´t have the desire and the wiliness to perform, which is what says, “Ability is important!"

Há muitas pessoas com sucesso que são totalmente incompetentes, porque eles não têm a habilidade e eles não têm o desejo e a astúcia de realizar, que é o que diz: "Habilidade é importante!"

Ability will take you up there, but dependability is crucial, why?  Because if you have a person with all the ability but they are not dependable, do you want them? Obviously not! Which says, "ability without dependability is a liability", and that is crucial?

A capacidade irá levá-lo até lá, mas a confiabilidade é fundamental, por quê? Porque se você tem uma pessoa com toda a habilidade, mas eles não são confiáveis​​, você vai querer eles? Obviamente que não! Que diz: "A capacidade sem confiança é uma responsabilidade", e isso é crucial?

Says one more, which says,  "our life is full of choices and life is full of compromises." What a contradiction. Well is it really not? Really it is not.
Diz mais uma, que diz: "a nossa vida é cheia de escolhas e vida é cheia de compromissos." Que contradição. Bem é realmente não é? Realmente não é.

If I ill treat you, I have chosen to be ill treated, haven´t I? If I treat a person with discourtesy, I have chosen to be treated with discourtesy, haven´t I? If I drink too much tonight I have chosen a headache tomorrow, haven´t I?
Se eu te tratar mal, eu escolhi para ser tratado mal, não tenho? Se eu tratar uma pessoa com descortesia, eu escolhi para ser tratada com descortesia, não tenho? Se eu beber muito hoje eu tenho escolhido uma dor de cabeça amanhã, não é?

This is life full of choices. Now as they say, "we are all free to the point of choice, but after we make our choices, the choice controls the chooser. We have no more choice."
Esta é a vida cheia de escolhas. Agora, como eles dizem, " nós somos todos livres para o ponto de escolha, mas depois fazemos as nossas escolhas, a escolha controla o seletor . Nós não temos mais escolha. 

  Now does that mean that everything is in our control in life?  Obviously not. There are some things beyond. I didn´t decide where I was going to be born. I didn´t decide the color of my skin, if this is my height that’s the way I can´t be six foot ten. There are some things beyond control. Sometimes kids are born deformed, what wrong did they do, who knows?  

"Agora, isso significa que tudo está em nosso controle na vida? Obviamente que não. Há algumas coisas além. Eu não decidi onde eu irria  nascer. Eu não decidi a cor da minha pele, se esta é a minha altura, que é a forma como eu não posso ter seis pés dez. Há algumas coisas fora do controle . Às vezes as crianças nascem deformadas, o que eles fizeram de errado, quem sabe?

Sometimes bad things happen to good people for no fault of their own. What wrong did they do? Who knows?
Às vezes as coisas ruins acontecem a pessoas boas sem culpa própria . Que mal que eles fizeram? Quem sabe?

As they say in life, “We cannot choose the cards that are dealt to us but what we can choose is how we play the game.” 
 Como se costuma dizer na vida, "Nós não podemos escolher as cartas que são distribuídas para nós, mas o que podemos escolher é como nós jogamos o jogo. " 

“We cannot choose the direction of the wind, but what we can choose is how we set the sail.”

 "Nós não podemos escolher a direção do vento, mas o que podemos escolher é como definir a vela. "

This is what says, “life is a question not of our position but our disposition, which is our attitude. Granted sometimes nature gives us a lemon, now the choice is yours, “Do you cry or do you make lemonade?” That´s the choice. 

Isto é o que diz: " a vida é uma questão não de nossa posição, mas a nossa disposição , que é a nossa atitude. Concedido por vezes a natureza nos dá um limão, agora a escolha é sua : "Não chore ou você faça uma limonada ? " Essa é a escolha
