The history of Maceió
All of the areas in Brazil are beautiful, even Maceió!
The beginning of Maceió was an allotment of
Diogo Soares.
The name Maceió means "that which covers the
swamp."
In 1673 the king of Portugal ordered to build a fort
in the harbor of Jaraguá to prevent the illegal trade of Brazilian wood.
In December 16, 1839 the government installed
itself in Maceió. Then Maceió developed its new administrative and political
projects. The decision to create these projects helped in developing trade and
industrialization in that area.
The main attractions are its beaches, highlighting
the natural pool of Pajuçara the pond Mundaú, the lookouts and craft centers
and the highlight of Pontal da Barra.
The anniversary of Maceió is from December
5-9.
